Trump Promises UFO Document Release at Phoenix Rally

The former president instructs Pentagon to disclose findings on unidentified aerial phenomena and UFOs

In a surprising announcement at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 17, 2026, former President Donald Trump revealed that he has directed the Pentagon to release previously classified information about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs). This disclosure comes in response to growing public interest and a series of mysterious disappearances within the aerospace research community.

Speaking to a crowd at Dream City Church, Trump emphasized the importance of transparency around UAPs, stating, "I figured this was a good crowd because you people - you're really into that. I don't know. So I'm pleased to report today, I thought I'd save it for this crowd, because you're a little bit out there, that this process is well underway." His remarks suggest a strategic appeal to the audience's fascination with the topic, as he announced that the first releases would begin "very, very soon."

Investigative journalist Jeremy Corbell, who has been a vocal advocate for UFO disclosure, expressed optimism about Trump's announcement, stating, "I know he means it. So, we need the Pentagon to do what he said." Corbell indicated that the anticipated information dump would include dozens of military videos documenting UAP sightings.

Trump's commitment to releasing UFO-related files follows a letter sent by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's Task Force to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in March 2026. This letter requested over 45 video files related to UAPs by April 14, 2026. The requested footage includes various incidents involving cigar-shaped and spherical UAPs, some reportedly captured near sensitive U.S. military installations and even a shootdown over Lake Huron in 2023.

During his speech, Trump remarked, "We found many very interesting documents, I must say," hinting at the potentially explosive nature of the information to be released. He also noted the public's long-standing curiosity about unexplained aerial phenomena, stating, "But we've had a lot of questions. It's something that — it really captivates the mind, there's no question about it."

Trump's push for disclosure aligns with recent federal initiatives, including the 2023 Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act and the establishment of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office within the Department of Defense. These efforts aim to address the growing concerns surrounding UAPs, particularly their implications for national security. House representatives have warned that the presence of UAPs in restricted airspace poses a potential threat to military readiness.

In addition to the anticipated document release, the topic of UFOs has gained renewed attention due to the troubling disappearances and deaths of at least ten U.S. researchers linked to aerospace studies. Among those reported missing is retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William McCasland, who vanished in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 27, 2026. Corbell has called for a thorough investigation into these incidents, highlighting the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of UFO whistleblower Matthew Sullivan. Sullivan's suicide occurred just before a scheduled meeting with lawmakers, prompting U.S. Representative Eric Burlison to notify the FBI last year.

As the Pentagon prepares for the upcoming releases, the implications of these disclosures are vast. Trump has previously stated on Truth Social that he would direct Hegseth and other relevant agencies to identify and release government files related to alien life and UAPs. He stated, "Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters."

The announcement has sparked a flurry of speculation about what the released documents may contain. The Pentagon has previously investigated UFO and UAP activity but concluded in a 2024 report that most sightings could be attributed to misidentified ordinary objects and found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology since World War II. This has not deterred public interest, as many continue to believe in the existence of unidentified aerial phenomena.

In the backdrop of Trump's announcement, former President Barack Obama had also hinted at classified UFO information during a podcast interview, stating, "They're real, but I haven't seen them, and they're not being kept in ... Area 51." Trump's response to Obama's remarks was sharp, asserting that the former president had taken information out of classified status, which he claimed was inappropriate.

As the Pentagon gears up for the release of these files, the White House is also addressing the troubling cases of missing scientists. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, "In light of the recent and legitimate questions about these troubling cases, and President Trump’s commitment to the truth, the White House is actively working with all relevant agencies and the FBI to holistically review all of the cases together and identify any potential commonalities that may exist."

With a history of government investigations into UFOs dating back to Project Blue Book in the 1970s, which cataloged over 12,000 sightings, the current push for transparency marks a notable shift in how such phenomena are approached. The renewed focus on UAPs reflects a broader societal curiosity and a desire for accountability from government agencies.

As the countdown to the anticipated document release begins, many are left to wonder what revelations lie ahead. The first batch of files from the Pentagon is expected to shed light on long-held questions surrounding UFOs and UAPs, potentially changing the narrative around these mysterious phenomena forever.
