Slam Dunk Festival has announced its first wave of artists for the 2027 edition, featuring an exciting lineup that includes pop-punk icons Bowling For Soup and Simple Plan, as well as heavyweights Killswitch Engage. The festival, which is the UK’s largest independent rock event, will kick off its 21st edition following a successful 20th anniversary this summer.
This year’s festival will likely be a monumental celebration of the best in pop-punk, emo, ska, metal, and beyond, with over 20 artists set to perform across various stages. The event will take place on the late May Bank Holiday weekend, starting in the north at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park on Saturday, May 29, 2027, followed by the southern event at Hatfield Park on Sunday, May 30, 2027.
Leading the charge, Bowling For Soup returns after a memorable performance in 2023, which frontman Jaret Reddick described as “up there with my favorite shows of our career.” In 2027, the band will also celebrate 25 years since the release of their breakthrough album Drunk Enough To Dance, which features enduring fan favorites like “Girl All The Bad Guys Want.” They will rotate closing slots with Simple Plan, who are making their return after an eight-year hiatus, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of their debut album, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls.
The festival will also see the return of ska-punk favorites Reel Big Fish for an exclusive UK reunion show, marking their first appearance at Slam Dunk since 2018. Less Than Jake will bring their extensive catalog of anthems, and The Interrupters will add to the formidable ska-punk lineup, alongside Isle of Wight punks Grade 2.
On the heavy stage, Killswitch Engage headlines for the first time, following the release of their 2025 album This Consequence. The lineup will also feature Beartooth, who will present their sixth album Pure Ecstasy, and Wage War, who are set to release their new album Landfall next month. Australia’s The Amity Affliction will return with their blend of melodic metalcore and post-hardcore, joined by ERRA, Melrose Avenue, and From Ashes To New, each bringing their unique sounds to the festival.
Sleeping With Sirens will headline one of the main stages, following the release of their eighth album An Ending In Itself. The Used will also take the stage after a year spent revisiting their first three albums, culminating in a special appearance alongside My Chemical Romance at the Hollywood Bowl this autumn. Other notable acts include The Maine, who will celebrate nearly two decades as a band, and We The Kings, marking 20 years since their self-titled debut album.
In addition to these major acts, the festival will feature Trophy Eyes, who will perform a belated 10th anniversary set for their album Chemical Miracle, as well as Chicago’s Knuckle Puck, who bring their blend of melodic pop-punk and emo back to the event. Overgrown, Love Rarely, As December Falls, RedHook, and Mouth Culture will also contribute to the diverse lineup, ensuring a high-energy atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Slam Dunk Festival has established itself as a staple in the UK music scene since its inception, celebrating the vibrant culture of rock music. The festival has grown significantly over the years, with its 20th anniversary in 2026 marking a milestone that showcased its enduring popularity and the loyalty of its fanbase. This year’s lineup reflects the festival’s commitment to diversity, featuring a mix of established acts and rising stars across various genres.
The festival's unique structure, featuring events in both the north and south of England, allows it to reach a wider audience. The decision to start in Leeds this year is a nod to the city’s rich musical heritage and its significance in the UK’s punk and rock scenes. The return to Hatfield Park for the southern event ensures that fans from across the country can participate in this celebration of music.
Fan feedback has played a key role in shaping the festival experience. Following last year’s event, organizers decided to implement a fixed ticket price structure, ensuring that all attendees pay the same amount regardless of when they purchase their tickets. This move aims to make the festival more accessible to fans, allowing them to plan ahead without worrying about fluctuating prices.
As excitement builds for Slam Dunk Festival 2027, fans can look forward to the pre-sale ticket launch on October 2, 2026, at 10am via the Slam Dunk app. This exclusive pre-sale will last for 48 hours, giving dedicated fans the opportunity to secure their spots early. General ticket sales will open shortly after, on October 5, 2026, at 10am, through various outlets, including the official Slam Dunk website.
With more names still to be announced, the anticipation surrounding the festival is likely to grow as the date approaches. Organizers are expected to reveal additional acts in the coming months, promising an even more extensive lineup that caters to a wide array of musical tastes. The festival's reputation for surprise appearances and exclusive performances adds to the allure, making it a must-attend event for music lovers.
As Slam Dunk Festival prepares for its 21st edition, fans are reminded of the rich history and community spirit that the event fosters. With a lineup that appeals to both nostalgic fans and newcomers alike, the festival is set to create unforgettable memories for everyone in attendance. As Killswitch Engage’s frontman Jesse Leach expressed, “We’re honoured to be taking the stage at Slam Dunk Festival in 2027!” The excitement is certainly mutual among fans eager for another unforgettable celebration of music.
