National Burrito Day, celebrated on April 2, 2026, is fast approaching, and QDOBA Mexican Eats is inviting fans to take a break and indulge in their favorite burrito. This year, the fast-casual restaurant is offering a special deal exclusively for QDOBA Rewards Members, allowing them to enjoy a free entrée with the purchase of an entrée and a drink.

As part of the celebration, QDOBA encourages its customers to 'Block the Burrito Hour,' a campaign aimed at promoting the importance of taking a proper lunch break. According to Jon Burke, Chief Marketing Officer at QDOBA, "National Burrito Day is a reminder that taking a real lunch break matters. With our National Burrito Day offer, and the tools that help guests Block the Burrito Hour, we're making it easy to step away from work, reconnect with friends or coworkers over delicious burritos or bowls, and come back refreshed."

On April 2, Rewards Members will find a reward automatically added to their Rewards Wallet, allowing them to claim a free entrée when they purchase an entrée and a drink. The offer is valid for one regular-size breakfast entrée or one full-size entrée, plus a drink, with the free entrée being of equal or lesser value than the purchased item. Rewards Gold Status Members will have extra time to redeem their offers, extending until April 5, 2026.

But QDOBA isn't the only chain getting in on the burrito action this year. Chipotle, another popular Mexican-inspired restaurant, is also celebrating National Burrito Day with its Burrito Vault game, giving rewards members a chance to win over $2 million in prizes, including free burritos for a year and buy-one-get-one entrees. This promotion runs from March 30 through April 1, culminating in additional offers on April 2, such as a $0 delivery fee on digital orders.

Moe's Southwest Grill is joining the festivities by offering a buy-one-get-one-free burrito or bowl at participating locations. They are also running a sweepstakes for rewards members to win free burritos for a year during the one-day promotion. Meanwhile, Bubbakoo's Burritos will celebrate with a two-day buy-one-get-one deal, allowing customers to redeem the offer in-store or online using the code "BURRITODAY."

The burrito itself has a rich history, dating back to the late 1800s, when the word first appeared in a dictionary of Mexican sayings in 1895. The term 'burrito' translates to 'little donkey' in Spanish, possibly referencing how the wrapped food resembled the packs carried by these animals. Burritos made their way to the United States in the 1930s, quickly becoming a staple across the country.

As National Burrito Day approaches, it's an excellent opportunity for burrito enthusiasts to explore their local favorites, as many smaller restaurants may also offer special promotions. Whether it's a classic bean and cheese burrito or a more adventurous combination of steak and rice, the day is dedicated to celebrating this beloved dish.

In addition to QDOBA's promotional efforts, the restaurant chain has established itself as a leader in the fast-casual dining sector. With 850 locations across 45 states, as well as in Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan, and South Korea, QDOBA is committed to providing fresh, flavorful ingredients. The company prepares its food by hand throughout the day and flame-grills its chicken and steak to create a variety of bold menu options.

Customers can customize their burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and salads to suit their tastes, with premium toppings available, including free signature 3-cheese queso and hand-crafted guacamole. For seven consecutive years, QDOBA has ranked among the top fast-casual restaurants in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, including six years at #1. The brand was also recently recognized by Yelp as one of the Most Loved Airport Brands, based on extensive analysis of traveler ratings and reviews.

As National Burrito Day draws near, fans are encouraged to take advantage of QDOBA's special offer and explore the deals available at other participating chains. With so many options to choose from, there's never been a more delicious time to celebrate burritos.

For those looking to join the QDOBA Rewards program, sign-up is available at qdoba.com/rewards or through the QDOBA app. With the chance to enjoy a free entrée on National Burrito Day, it's a perfect opportunity to indulge in a flavorful meal with friends or coworkers.

So mark your calendars for April 2 and prepare to dig into your favorite burrito as QDOBA and other chains roll out their exciting offers. Whether you're a loyal fan or a newcomer to the burrito scene, this day a tasty celebration of one of America's favorite meals.
