LEGO has officially announced its latest addition to the LEGO Ideas line: a detailed set based on the cult classic television series, *The X-Files*. The set, featuring 1,478 pieces, includes eight minifigures, including iconic characters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This eagerly anticipated release was revealed on July 21, 2026, with fans excited about the nostalgic homage to the series.
The *X-Files* set is part of LEGO's unique approach where fans can submit ideas for products, which are then voted on for production. The original concept for this set was submitted by Australian fan designer Brent Waller over a decade ago as part of LEGO Ideas’ *’90s Nostalgia Challenge*. Waller expressed his excitement, stating, "I was obsessed with *The X-Files* from the moment I first saw it in the ’90s. I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show."
The set intricately recreates FBI Agent Fox Mulder’s office, complete with numerous details such as an “I Want to Believe” poster, pencils in the ceiling, and a nod to Mulder’s sunflower seed habit. It also features a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO, allowing fans to relive some of the show's most memorable moments. The set includes minifigures of Mulder, Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch (the Cigarette Smoking Man), The Flukeman, and a grey alien.
Gillian Anderson, who portrayed Dana Scully, shared her delight at being turned into a LEGO minifigure. She described the experience as surreal and one of the best moments of her career, saying, "Seeing myself in minifigure form is both surreal and oddly delightful – there’s something very charming about being ‘miniaturised.’" She also expressed hope that fans would enjoy revisiting the show through this unique set.
The set will be available for LEGO Insiders starting August 1, 2026, and to the general public on August 4, 2026, with a retail price of $199.99. For those who purchase the set between August 1 and August 10, LEGO will include a bonus gift: *The X-Files: Scully’s Lab*, a 221-piece mini-set featuring an additional Scully minifigure in her lab coat.
