Caitlyn Jenner has filed a creditor’s claim against the estate of her late friend and manager, Sophia Hutchins, alleging that Hutchins owed her $439,095.88 prior to her tragic death in an ATV accident in July 2025. The claim, which was filed on November 19, 2025, was allowed by Hutchins’ estate on March 27, 2026, meaning the estate has agreed to pay the amount, according to court documents.

Hutchins, who died at the age of 29, reportedly accumulated the debt through a series of credit card charges, cash advances, and shared legal expenses. The breakdown of the claim reveals that Hutchins spent over $273,000 on various online retailers, including Shopify and eBay, using Jenner’s credit cards. In addition, Jenner is seeking reimbursement for over $133,000 in legal fees they shared, approximately $16,000 in debit card charges, and around $7,000 in cash advances.

On July 2, 2025, Hutchins died in an ATV crash near Jenner’s Malibu home. She lost control of the vehicle after rear-ending another car, which caused her to veer off a cliff and fall approximately 350 feet into a ravine. According to Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Hutchins was likely speeding at the time of the accident. "It looked like she tried to maneuver to go around [the Mazda], but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there," Saucedo explained.

In the months following Hutchins’ death, Jenner publicly expressed her grief. During an appearance on Fox News @ Night in August 2025, she said, "Recently my good friend Sophia passed away in a tragic accident. For the last seven weeks, I've been dealing with death, and it's so difficult." This statement highlighted the emotional toll the loss had taken on Jenner, who had known Hutchins for over a decade.

The two women first met in 2015 through their hairstylists, and their relationship quickly blossomed into a close friendship and professional partnership. Hutchins eventually became Jenner's manager and played a key role in her public life, including managing her speaking engagements and public appearances. Jenner often praised Hutchins for her intelligence and entrepreneurial spirit, stating, "She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable." Hutchins also founded her own company, LUMASOL, after graduating from Pepperdine University.

As the creditor claim unfolded, it sparked discussions about the nature of their financial arrangement. Jenner had allowed Hutchins access to her credit cards for work purposes, but any personal expenses incurred were expected to be reimbursed. The claim indicates that Hutchins had not settled her outstanding balance before her untimely death, leading to the current legal proceedings.

Critics have voiced concerns over the timing of the claim, which came nearly eight months after Hutchins' passing. Some argue that Jenner should have honored her late friend's memory rather than pursuing financial restitution. Others defend Jenner's right to recover legitimate business expenses and legal fees incurred during their partnership.

The estate's agreement to the claim, though not without stipulations, indicates a willingness to address the financial matters arising from Hutchins' death. Court documents reveal that certain claims may require additional court approval before payment can be finalized.

In the aftermath of Hutchins' tragic death, Jenner's public statements have emphasized her emotional struggle. "For the last seven weeks, I’ve been dealing with death, and it’s so difficult," she reiterated during her Fox News appearance. This sentiment reflects her personal loss and the complex nature of their intertwined lives.

As the legal proceedings continue, the relationship between Jenner and Hutchins remains a topic of public interest. Fans and observers are left to ponder the implications of their financial dealings and the legacy of their friendship. Jenner's claim against Hutchins' estate serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges that can arise even in close personal relationships, particularly when intertwined with business.

Looking ahead, the estate's handling of the claim will likely shape how similar cases are approached in the future, particularly in the entertainment industry. As Jenner navigates this difficult chapter, the public will continue to watch closely, both for the outcome of the claim and for any additional revelations about the bond shared between these two women.
