Aefact, a specialized semiconductor backend company, announced on May 14, 2026, that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Jeju Semiconductor to conduct memory wafer testing. This collaboration is set to facilitate the testing of memory semiconductor wafers, allowing Aefact to participate as a key partner in this domain.
The agreement comes as Jeju Semiconductor seeks to respond to global demand by transitioning a portion of its wafer testing operations from overseas to domestic facilities. This strategic shift will enable Jeju Semiconductor to perform testing for newly developed products within South Korea, thereby enhancing its operational efficiency.
Jeju Semiconductor selected Aefact as its domestic testing partner after a competitive bidding process involving multiple companies. Aefact has established a solid reputation through years of package testing transactions, demonstrating its technical expertise and quality assurance capabilities.
The initial product to be tested by Aefact will be LPDDR2, with plans to gradually expand the product range to include NAND and LPDDR4X, which are currently under development by Jeju Semiconductor. This partnership marks a notable expansion of Aefact's collaboration with Jeju Semiconductor, as they have previously worked together in the package testing sector.
Jeju Semiconductor, which reported revenues of approximately 302.2 billion won and an operating profit of 35.9 billion won last year, is looking to bolster its domestic testing infrastructure in light of increasing demand for low-power memory solutions and diverse applications. The importance of a stable domestic testing infrastructure has become more pronounced as the semiconductor industry continues to evolve.
In a bid to strengthen their strategic partnership, Jeju Semiconductor plans to install new equipment capable of handling high-speed memory (LPDDR5X) at Aefact's facilities by June 2026. This initiative will improve collaboration between the two companies and reinforce their commitment to supporting local fabless customers in developing and transitioning their products to mass production.
Aefact is set to invest approximately 40 billion won in capital expenditures (CAPEX) by 2030 to significantly bolster its wafer testing capabilities. This investment will allow the company to establish a comprehensive one-stop support system, aiding clients from product development to mass production.
The upcoming installation of the new LPDDR5X testing equipment is expected to provide a substantial boost to both companies' operational capabilities. As they work together, Aefact aims to broaden its service offerings, ensuring that the needs of its customers are met effectively. Aefact’s representative stated, “Through our collaboration with Jeju Semiconductor, which has established a competitive edge in the global AIoT and automotive markets, we are reinforcing our support for domestic fabless companies.”
